January Birchbox review

Image

My January Birchbox was all about new year and new you. These products were new indeed and items I wouldn't try normally. I'm glad I did.

theBalm® cosmetics Hot Mama Shadow & Blush All-in-One - I gave this blush to my bestie. I liked it.

Ojon rare blend™ oil total hair therapy - I love this oil. It seems better than other hair oils I've tried.

Lashem Double Trouble Mascara - I haven't tried the mascara but it promises volumizing and thickening.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè (24-Hour Miracle Cream) - I love, love this moisturizer. It's like La Mer. I have to get this.

Harvey Prince Skinny Chic - I'm not into perfume so didn't try it.

OOTD - What's happening

Image
Lots happening this week. Paris fashion week. Pope Benedict stepping down. Fifteen days of Lent already. I've been doing well not shopping and eating sweets. I have had the occasional cranberry muffin and pumpkin bread though. I'm bummed I couldn't get Vince Camuto heels on Hautelook yesterday though.

I'm wearing a Final Touch tank from No Rest for Bridget, Levi's jeans and 2020AVE jeweled flats. Bracelets are gifted from a friend.

Makeup of the day

Image
I'm a makeup fiend and took over an entire medicine cabinet to house my collection. Here's my latest go to for a bronze natural look.

Giorgio Armani Luxurious Silk foundation in 8 - best foundation ever!

Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in 3 - sneaky way to get a bronze color.

NYX eyeshadow in Rock & Roll (gifted from the Guess Marie Claire event) - for that smoky natural look.

Sephora Kohl liner in 06 - I learned navy blue is best for brown eyes.

YSL Touche Eclat in 3.5 - a light color for those pesky dark circles.

Korres Vitamin E Face Primer - in love with this primer. Perfect for that dewy look.

Benefit They're Real mascara in black - one mascara that lives up to their name. Love this sticking power.

Heated eyelash curler - got this heated curler from Lashfully and love, love this.

OOTD - Nautical day

Image
Happy what I wore Wednesday everyone! With the weather in the high 60's in the OC, I thought I'd wear something nautical. Hope everyone has a great day.

I'm wearing an H&M dress (similar) and Sam Edelman Trina sandals (link). Bracelets are gifted from friends.

PS.
Be sure to follow me on twitter @sunnynblue for outfit posts, food and armcandy closeups, and Cali living.

OOTD - Peekaboo lace

Image
My aunt got me this cute t-shirt from the Philippines. I love thepeekaboo lace detail on the shoulder. It gives it such an unexpected surprise.

I'm wearing a Bajo shirt, Gap 1969 jeans (similar), and Sam Edelman Trina sandals (link). Bracelets are gifted from a friend.

OOTD - Easy breezy

Image
It was so windy in California today. I got wind blown hair without the salon blowout.

I'm wearing The Limited cardigan (similar), Express top (similar), and Sneak Peak floral jeans (similar). Shoes are Sam Edelman Trina (link). Bracelets are gifted from a friend.

OOTD - 90s look

Image
I must have been in a retro state of mind after catching up on The Carrie Diaries. That AnnaSophia Robb gal is so stinking cute. I would wear her 80s wardrobe look today. I went for a 90s look with this tshirt and high rise jean combo.

I'm wearing a US Open of Surfing tshirt (I got it last summer in Huntington Beach!), Madewell High Rise jeans (link), and Urban Outfitters espadrilles. Bracelets are from No Rest for Bridget, TJ Maxx and from a friend.

Black and White

Image
I really love the simpleness yet bold color combo of black and white. Black and white is so classic and timeless that you could wear this all season long. Here are some of my favorites I'm digging:

From left to right:
Diane Von Furstenberg dress, Antonella Degrade Polka Dot, $134 at Neiman Marcus - I can imagine wearing this to a daytime wedding or party.

Dolce Vita Brandie sweater, $145 at ShopBop - This sweater is so versatile. It looks great with this skirt but I'd pair it with some emerald green jeans too.

The Dreamer Flannel pajamas, $29.99 at Victoria Secret - Who doesn't love comfy pajamas? Now you can look cute in case any visitors drop by at night when you're lounging.

AG Adriano Goldschmied The Legging Ankle in White/Black Floral Graphic, $124 at Revolve Clothing - You know me, I'm a sucker for printed, colored or floral denim, jeggings, or leggings. This black and white floral would be a perfect addition to anyone's closet. I can see it with a bri…

OOTD - Denim on denim

Image
I saw this cute throwback Thursday picture on my instagram of Britney and Justin wearing denim head to toe. That was my inspiration for this look. Denim on denim. I love how comfy yet put together it looks.

I'm wearing a Pleione denim top (similar), Martin + Osa jeans (similar), and 2020AVE jeweled flats (sold out!). Bracelets are from No Rest for Bridget, Bela Vi, and gifts from a friend.

Lovely little shoe

Image
I fell in love with this Valentino heel when I saw it on display at their boutique in South Coast Plaza the other night. The fushia color is perfect for spring and stud detail is edgy yet playful. If you'd like to get it for me, here's the link.

PS.
I'm only half kidding.

OOTD - Button blazer

Image
Do you have a piece in your closet that evokes memories? This button blazer is one for me. I remember wearing this to work in the office and buying it with my mom at a boutique in Huntington Beach.

I'm wearing a Lush blazer (similar), Uniqlo tank (similar), and Levi's jeans (similar). Shoes are  Go Jane wedges and bracelets are gifted from a friend.

San Diego: Zoo

Image
A fun place for adults and kiddos to visit is the San Diego Zoo. My favorites have to be the elephants, zebras, koalas, and monkeys. Sorry antelopes, wild pigs, and reptiles, I'm not really into you. Here are a few snapshots from our recent afternoon at the zoo.

OOTD - Sweet shirt

Image
My dad is so cute and calls sweatshirt "sweet shirt". I think it's adorable. I wore this leopard print one on this cold day to get lunch with my mom and gals plus run to appointments.

I''m wearing a Victoria Secret sweatshirt (link), James Perse tank (link), and Gap 1969 cords (similar). Shoes are Go Jane wedge sneakers (similar) and bracelets are gifts from a friend.

PS.
What's up with all the shootings lately? This OC one the other morning were places I know in Tustin. Scary! The latest is the Ladera Ranch woman was identified, per this OC Register article.

San Diego: Marriott Marquis and Marina Hotel

Image
Spoiled. That's one word I can say about the Marriott at the San Diego marina. We had a gorgeous bay view of the marina which is equally beautiful at night and sunset. The pool looked like paradise. If I had more time, I would enjoy the pool. Maybe next time. The boats in the marina were so picturesque.

OOTD - Rainy grey

Image
Happy Wednesday! It was rainy and dreary day yesterday. I felt like wearing my pink and grey combo.  I also spoiled myself with a night time reflexology massage. If you live in Orange County, you have to try those reflexology massages in Little Saigon.

I'm wearing American Eagle pink jeans (similar), H&M sweater (similar), and Webster Miami flats (similar). Bracelets are gifted from a friend.

PS.
Did you catch these  Fall 2013 looks from Marie Claire? They pulled the best looks from New York Fashion Week. It's now Milan Fashion Week this week after London Fashion Week. I can't wait to see what tweets I get on MFW.
