I can't live without my

Image
...lip balms. I always seem to have chapped lips no matter how much water I drink. When I ran out of my Fresh Sugar lip balm and lost my Rosebud salve, I was devastated and needed to get a refill at Sephora. I keep my Fresh in my purse and Rosebud in my makeup case. These combination of lip balms keep my lips from getting chapped. I love these products and I think you'll love them to.

OOTD - Flowery denim

Image
It's day two of my skirt week. I am loving the spring Cali weather lately. I have been following a new philosopy of "out with the old and in with the new". Cleaning my closet is taking forever, but I do like getting new things. (Stay tuned for posts on what I got at  No Rest for Bridget and H&M!)

I'm wearing a Pleione denim shirt (similar), The Limited skirt (similar), and Franco Sarto sandals (similar). Bracelets are gifted from my mom.

OOTD - Spring skirt

Image
I attended the Southern California Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. (Stay tuned for that post this week!) I thought I would wear a floral skirt to match where I was going.

I'm wearing a James Perse tank (similar), BCBG skirt (similar), Gap cardigan, and Sam Edelman Trina sandals (link). Bracelet is from Topshop (link).

Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil

Image
I have yet to get a blowout from the Drybar, but I follow Drybar on Twitter and see all the pretty blowouts and Drybar expanding everywhere.

I have tried different hair oils to tame my flyaways and smooth my strands with so so results. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil. It smelled great and tamed my flyaways right away. I only needed a little bit to rub in my hair and it didn't leave my hands oily. I hate hair products that feel sticky or greasy.

I definitely recommend this product if you want that smooth and sleek look.

PS.
I'm calling it beauty week, so stay tuned for more beauty posts this week.

OOTD - Stripe party

Image
I have been doing some spring cleaning in my closet and noticed I have lots of stripes in my wardrobe. I love how stripes seem to never go out of style.

I'm wearing an H&M basic dress (similar) and Sam Edelman Trina sandals (link). Bracelets are from Bella Vi and my friends.

Handprints

Image
How do you hold onto a memory? Is it through a photograph, capturing a video, having an Instagram gallery, or freezing that handprint in time?

I like to do all of the above, but especially love handprints.

At my parents' home, the first homeowner did cute handprints of his family in cement in the backyard when they used to live there. Just recently, he knocked on their door to stroll down memory lane. I learned that those handprints of his children and then wife. The children are now in their 50's and wife is an ex-wife. I am so glad my dad saved this piece of history of the home and that man's life.

I have also imprinted my first daughter's hands when she was 5 months old. It is nice to look back to see how little she once was.

I really recommend imprinting your own handprints or family's handprints to hold on to those special memories.

OOTD - Lady in red

I thought since I dubbed this dress week that I would wear a red one yesterday. It was a comfortable choice for preschool class, lunch, errands and party planning.

I'm wearing an H&M dress (similar), Forever 21 necklace, and Tahari flats (link). Bracelets are from Madewell and my mom. Ring is from Bella Vi.

The Lab Gastropub

Image
I love my gourmet food trucks, but wasn't able to spot any at the Festival of Books last Sunday. I'm glad hubby spotted a restaurant just off the USC campus that we could walk to.

This Los Angeles restaurant was surprisingly good. I loved that there was an outdoor patio and the modern decor inside.

Our lunch consisted of The Lab burger, Warm Chicken Salad, and spicy edamame. The Lab burger had angus beef, bacon, cheese, garic aoili, carmelized onions, guacamole, lettuce and tomato. My mom and I shared this delicious burger and wanted more. The chicken in the Warm Chicken Salad could have used more seasoning, but  had mixed greens, feta cheese, and walnuts. The edamame was sauteed in hoison sauce and chili. It was good but a little messy.

OOTD - Zippadee do dah

Image
Thanks for the comments on yesterday's outfit! I must have jinxed the weather because it was way gloomy yesterday. I hear there's a chance of rain in OC/LA. Yikes!

I'm wearing a Montea dress, Maki Maki Maki cardigan, and Tahari flats. Bracelets are gifted from a friend.

LA Times Festival of Books

Image
Last Sunday, the family and I attended the LA Times Festival of Books. It was my first time going to the event at the beautiful USC campus.

It was a lovely bright day to browse the different book booths and listen to music at the different stages. I heard a great band play at the USC stage. (Check out my vine @sunnynblue to hear a clip.) The Children's area had great booths and eye candy. I was bummed I couldn't stay longer to see Scandal actor and author Dan Bucatinsky at the Book Soup booth.

Hope you can attend next year's Festival of Books! It's a great celebration of the written word. I'll leave you with a few things I loved seeing.

I'm wearing a James Perse tank, Jolt shorts and Puma Sneakerinas. Necklace is from Bella Vi. Gold bracelets are from Madewell and gifted from a friend. Talk and question bracelets are from the LA Times booth.

I bet Boston is happy that the suspect #2 was caught. My prayers are still with Boston and Texas though. Please keep my grandma in your prayers again. Thank you!

Bella Vi bling

Image
I've written about Bella Vi, but this boutique and spa deserves another mention. I went recently to buy some bling for some birthday presents. I couldn't help but get something, I mean several things for myself.

Pictured here are a leaf bangle bracelet, long gold necklace with bar pendant, necklace with blue stone, three square bracelet, open heart ring, red New Mexico inspired ring, and blue New Mexico inspired ring.

I love this place and can't wait to go back to get more arm candy!
