Tell me about yourself and Wandering Y Designs. How did you come about starting Wandering Y Designs? Growing up in West Virginia, I was known to be a bit of a wild child.  With 200 acres of horse farm to ride around on, it was hard knowing where you might find me.  Early on, I had a desire to not only see the world, but to learn from and embrace it. This desire only grew after my first solo trip abroad at the age of 14.  After studying in Paris in my twenties, my love of different cultures and their history began to influence my ideas on design and aesthetic as well.

Having always been a free spirit when it came to fashion, the idea for making my own pieces arose simply out of that wanderlust spirit.  Never finding quite what I was looking for, the work ethic I was raised with kicked in gear and I decided to just start making things myself. When people started wanting to buy right off the street from me, I knew I was on to something.

Finding that one special piece to work wit…

Orange lipstick (drugstore find!)

Since I lost my orange Revlon lipstick I used in Maui, I have been wanting to replace it with a new orange lipstick.
The Target beauty aisle is so awesome. I found this Wet n Wild in Purty Persimmon for $1.99.
I loved the vibrant color in he tube but because my lip color is so dark it doesn't translate like that. I may have to mix with a red to brighten it up. Still, it's an awesome drugstore find!

OOTD - jump around

Dresses and jumpsuits are my fave! Such am easy way to get dressed!
I wore this comfy jumpsuit on Monday for a meeting in Laguna. It was perfect for the  warm beach weather and cool night with a cardigan.

It's crazy to believe I used to wear this dress when I was preggo a couple years ago. I love the mix of floral and animal print.

It was the perfect dress to wear for Father's Day sushi and ice cream lunch.

Lean In - book review

I have always been pro-women. I believe women should support each other personally and professionally.I was really inspired when reading Sheryl Sandberg's book Lean In. I love her message that says don't be afraid to lean into your career even though you are about to start a family or have a family. I love that she turned down positions when it wasn't the right fit. I love how she wants women to excel in male dominated fields. I love that she wants to lean in with the help of her family.

Some ways this book has changed me to lean in:
-support fellow women by collaborating through business, blogger collaborations, and advice
-encourage other women entrepreneurs
-be vocal with what you want personally and professionally
-to try to balance it all the best way you know how
-be vocal when you've exhausted your resources and need help. It is okay to lean in to a spouse or family. We are not superwomen.
-love her message about banning bossy. When men take charge, they are …

OOTD - Work and play dress

I had a work meeting earlier this week in the morning, so thought I'd wear this as I meet someone new. I like being professional yet fashionable when meeting someone. I really believe in first impressions. In the afternoon, I even took this dress to the playground for some playtime with the gals. Good times!

It's almost Friday. Whoo hoo!

Painting and Vino

I heard about Painting and Vino from a friend and loved there was a deal online for it. My awesome brother got me and my mom this gift for Mother's Day. Their online calendar has different paintings you can choose from.

I have been in love with "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt so decided on that painting. The night is 3 hours long with an instructor giving you instructions on how to paint each section. For a non-painter like me, the instructions were clear and you could always ask directions. It was an awesome night of wine and painting and I recommend it if you are looking for something new to do. Cheers!
