Matcha Love

Image
Happy Tuesday!

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend !
I've been a fan of Mitsuwa supermarket and food court forever . I finally tried Matcha Love. It's a cute food spot that serves green tea drinks and desserts. I tried their soft serve flavor a like black sesame , cherry blossom , and roasted green tea .
I loved the roasted green tea flavor. It was amazing ! I can't wait to order the other flavored. For a tea and dessert lover like me , it was a perfect treat .

DTLA: Cafe Dulce

Image
To wrap up my Downtown Los Angeles series, I have to tell you about Cafe Dulce in the Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo.

I can't believe I missed this cute cafe on all my visits here but they serve donuts, teas, cakes and other pastries. I was drawn to the donuts of course. They had such a cute array of donuts from maple bacon to oreo donuts.

I ordered the

fruity pebble donut hole - I loved this one. It had whip cream or custard inside and topped with fruity pebbles. Yum! green tea donut - This green tea one was too sweet and I sadly did not like it as much as I thought I would. oreo donut - The Oreo donut was surprisingly sweet and light for having Oreos. It was  hit at home.

I'll definitely have to come back and order the blueberry matcha tea. I'm a big matcha tea fan and it sounds so great!

For Mother's Day weekend , my mom and I stumbled upon T.O.T. Restaurant in Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles. We wanted to get an early dinner and decided to snack on some sushi.
We ordered: Albacore with garlic ponzu - the best I've ever had !Soft shell crab - my favorite appetizer everT.O.T roll - this unique roll had jalapeno, tuna and spicy tuna inside with a Japanese mayo drizzled on top. It was heavenly!

I definitely recommend this cute restaurant. Great service and great food.

Geffen Contemporary of Art at MOCA

Image
My mom and I love going to museums on Mother's Day. Last year , we went to the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.

This year, we visited out the Geffen Contemporary of Art at MOCA.

I didn't know what to expect of this museum in Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles, but was pleasantly surprised. The exhibit that we saw was called "Don't Look Back: The 1990s at MOCA".

I loved the mix of large installations to the intricate pieces of art in the museum. Every piece of art told a story that made you stop, look and examine each piece.

I loved being exposed to new artists and analyzing the meaning and interpretation of the art.  Hope you enjoy my favorites below.

Happy Saturday!

I'm a fairly private about certain things in my life except for my full support for Hillary Clinton.
I snuck out last Sunday afternoon before a Mother's Day bbq to go to a Hillary Clinton event in Irvine. It was so amazing to be with fellow supporters and I learned there are so many exciting things planned for Orange County. The organizer was so sweet and even encouraged me to be an organizer in my city. We'll see...

As a side note, I attended a Hillary rally in 2008 when she was running against Obama at Cal State Los Angeles. We were standing so close and I still remember her blue pant suit and empowering words for the crowd.

Poqet Donuts Spring Flavors

Image
Hello it's Lindsey, I'm a member of #TeamSereneSky and new member of the SunnyNBlue blog.

Last week, I attended a media tasting at Poqet Donuts. The dessert lover in me and early sugar rush almost made me forget I have morning classes at Orange Coast College.

Conveniently enough, Poqet Donuts location has a great location in Irvine that is near UCI, Orange Coast College and Irvine Spectrum Center. I was definitely a bit cheerier walking into my first morning lecture that day after the yummy Poqet Donut tasting!

The media tasting showcased Poqet’s, pronounced “Pocket’s,” new Spring donut flavors featuring Apple Pie, Blackberry Sorbet, Macadamia Coconut, and Carrot Cake.

Whether you have a major sweet tooth like myself, or enjoy something a little less overwhelming, there’s something for everyone’s craving on Poqet’s latest spring menu.

My personal favorites was a tie between the Apple Pie and the Carrot Cake. While on the sweeter side, they are both rich in flavor and melt in yo…

Shopserenesky.com Gypsy Oasis Lookbook

Image
Yesterday, we launched our new Shopserenesky.com Gypsy Oasis lookbook. This was such a fun collaboration with my friend and stylist extraordinaire Andrew Nguyen. He created a vintage swim concept and was a blast to work with.

Our amazing team included  amazing models Giselle  and Shelby and photographer Jung.  We were lucky to collaborate with my cousin and hairstylist Lyla Caspellan and new makeup artist girlfriend Kat Nguyen. My designer Annie from OhSoCaliClothing and I scouted a perfect location for our swim shoot too.

Here are some of my favorite photos. Shop the full lookbook here.

Tell me about yourself.  Over the past 10 years, I've been working in the Digital Media Industry focused on Product Development for entertainment and media companies.  My career started with advertising agencies and eventually I made the switch over to the client side.  Life in digital entertainment is both exhilarating and, at times, exhausting!  Last year, I decided to take a mini hiatus to figure out what I wanted to do with the next chapter.  I knew that I didn't want to completely get out of Product Development, but that I had to find a true work life balance.  A career that would offer me the level of flexibility that I needed to pursue some of my passion projects.  At the core, I have a strong desire to travel the world and to learn as much as I can from other cultures.   I also LOVE flowers.  Getting them is the best, but making them for others is even better.  So during my hiatus, I did just that --- joined a consulting company called After 7 Consulting, traveled the w…

Newport Beach Farmers' Market

Image
Happy Monday! Did you know every Sunday there is a Newport Beach Farmer's Market near the Pier? I checked it out the other weekend since I haven't been to Newport Beach Pier in a while. Check out what I brought home below.

I try to eat organic when I can and loved this mustards micro greens. It's perfect vegetable to add to sandwiches or meats. I also love fresh flowers so definitely had to pick up these unique Gerbera daisies. I've never seen white ones with pink outline. It's so pretty!

I usually make my own green smoothies but was intrigues by this Got Green Drinks? organic juices. I bought the Got Brainiac? It has purple kale, purple cabbage, celery, red grapes and green apple. It has that tart and sweet taste that I love about juices.

Definitely check out this Farmer's Market on Sunday!
