I miss you, Monterey

I visited the cozy sleepy town of Monterey, CA last weekend to attend a friend's graduation ceremony. I'm into quaint and cool places so I definitely have to share this find. If you ever visit historic Old Town Monterey, I suggest checking out "The Crown & Anchor". It reminded me of this British pub I went to in Spain (yeah, I know why not England huh?). With a lively atmosphere, you might think you're in merry old England. My friends and I sat outside at the heated patio area where we enjoyed food and drink. I ordered the fish and chips (of course) while others munched on cheeseburgers and chicken fingers. I'm not a fan but they told me the chicken pie and cottage pie is good. For drink, they offer a nice selection of draft beer, microbrew, and local California wines (from nearby Napa and Carmel wineries). This place is a local favorite for MIIS (Monterey Institute of International Studies) students so watch out for those silly grad students blowing off s

Denim galore

Wish I was in LA this weekend to check out the denim sample sample. Enjoy for me! Warehouse Sale It's an invite-only denim sample sale w/ Antik Denim, Chip & Pepper, True Religion and more at up to 80% off. It'll be at the LA Convention Center this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. URL:

I've been on a Tarjay (okay, it's really called Target) fix lately. (It also doesn't help that one of the cashiers looks just like Santa Claus too!) My recent purchases include chestnut colored ugg-style boots , black peacoat from the GO International collection , tunic from their Xhilation line, and Goody headbands. I seriously love that place. You can find stuff for yourself and Christmas gifts for the family. I'm hoping my lil' cousin will love her National Geographic metal detector. Why didn't they have that when I was little? I cannot wait to sport these on my trip to Monterey tomorrow:

I have been on a crepe fix recently. There's one place i have been visiting for their delicious strawberry nutella crepes. Heaven's delight is a new dessert launch in Westminster with a variety of desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth from frozen yogurt, shaved ice, to crepes. They plan on serving chocolate fondue soon too. This cozy place is popular with college kids and families. The modern and contemporary decor gives it a neat homey feel too. They also have free wi-fi too. More info: Heaven's Delight 9938 Bolsa Avenue, Suite 117, Westminster, CA (714)418-0598

Mmm smoothies

My favorite smoothie place, Jamba Juice, announced the other day that they will be working with Nestle to create ready-to-drink beverages for stores. How cool is that! If you can't wait until then, be sure to try Naked Juice "Mighty Mango" . It's my favorite morning treat if I don't feel like organic oatmeal. There's even a new one I want to try called called "Tropical" from their Probiotic line.

Designer blowout

After enjoying fish taco Tuesday at Rubio's last night, I stumbled upon a new store that replaced the old Tower Records. This humongous store carried all kinds of brands young peeps wear like Hurley, Paul Frank, Oakley, Levi's and True Religion at unbelievable prices. With about a million items of sweaters, beanies, hats, t-shirts, denim jeans, sunglasses, blazers, sportswear, and shorts in stock, be prepared to dig for your size. Check out my very first pair of vintage Levi's I got: More info: Market Place - Tustin, El Camino Real, Tustin, CA Open Mon to Sat 10am to 10pm, Sun 10am to 8pm

My new hat?

I first heard about the Goorin Core brand when I got a hat from a grab bag after attending Hilary Duff's 18th party in Hollywood way back. Here's my lil' cousin modeling that hat: Check out this Goorin Core hat I ordered tonight for my lil' brother's Christmas pressent. (Hope he's not reading this right now!) I am so stealing borrowing this from him: More info: Goorin Brothers -

James Perse

My hubby and I went to our first James Perse sample sale on a whim a few years ago. We've been addicted to his soft shirts ever since. Last Saturday, we headed to another James Perse sample sale in LA on Saturday. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded or packed like last time. There was plenty of selection for men and women. The women's collection included their comfy cottony tanks, pants, dresses, jackets and skirts. The main things that caught my eye (and actually fit me!) were two dresses. The olive spaghetti strap would make a perfect summer dress and the white tank dress has the cutest details - zipper back and pockets in the front. My hubby also lucked out and got three things - grey jacket, black/tan hoodie, and black long sleeve shirt. Hooray for James Perse!

Mochi & ice cream - oh my!

Last weekend, I was in for a treat. In between purchasing new bikes and watching the Broncos sadly lose, I found some delicious sweets here in Irvine and Costa Mesa. Mochilato made me feel like a kid in a candy store. When I first opened the door, the place had that Japanese restaurant kind of feel of dark hardwood floors, tables and chairs. As you trekked all the way to the back, you see oodles of colorful mochi ice cream (here, they call it mochilato). They had flavors I have never heard of such as creme brulee, hazelnut, and pistachio. I decided to try the mango and hazelnut mochilato. As soon as I bit into it, it had the perfect texture and taste. You could taste the mochi and ice cream inside. My husband and brother-in-law decided to try the pistachio mochilato and Italian Shaved Ice (made with strawberry syrup and fruits galore - mango, strawberry, kiwi, and banana). The shaved ice was scrumptious and way different from the Japanese style shaved ice with red bean or Hawaiian arti
