Vegas eats

Despite the sub par weather, I had a great Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas. Maybe it's because all I did was eat and sleep. Eat, I did!

I never get disappointed with anything I eat at Lotus of Siam. This Thai restaurant located off the strip has choices galore and has been featured in several gourmet magazines. My ravenous friends and I ordered an array of dishes from garlic prawn, chicken pad thai, panang tofu w/ no bell peppers, tom yum soup, and sticky rice and mango. The new dish I tried was the garlic prawn with the peel attached and deep fried to perfection.

While waiting for my poker player friends to finish a game, I stumbled upon a delectable bakery called the Chocolate Swan selling pastries, tortes, and truffles. Check out my mini fruit tart:

Craftsteak is a perfect spot for a late night meal. All the courses were flavorful and tasty at Chef Tom Colicchio's restaurant. The first course was light and tasty - frisee salad with goat cheese and bacon bits and colorful beet salad. I shared the main course of protein and veggies - hearty roasted 12 oz. Kobe skirt steak, mix of hen of the wood, white Japanese shimeji, and shitake mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes. The Liquid Chocolate Cake served with Espresso Ice Cream was a perfect way to end the meal. My kudos to the wonderful pastry chef Katie!

The Wynn buffet must be the best buffet ever. The holiday weekend pricing was a little steep at $39.95 but they delivered. I remember devouring four giant plates of crab legs, shrimp cocktail, spicy salmon roll, vegetable roll, California roll, skirt steak, mashed potato and gravy, roasted asparagus, fried chicken, veal bolognese ravioli, roasted tomato pasta, and eggplant parmesan.

Of course, I had to satisfy my sweet tooth with their array of desserts. Creme brulee, banana creme chocolate pie, strawberry shortcake, and dark chocolate tart with edible gold.
