Osteria Mozza

I first tried Pizzeria Mozza w/ my hubby a few months back as evidenced by my blog . We've been wanting to go back to Osteria Mozza, but this time, I went to this restaurant to celebrate a girlfriend's recent engagement. My friend and I couldn't wait to hear the story and see the ring. Ooh la la! The food was great, yet I wish the service was better. The host and waitress kept reminding us that they had to have the table back by 8:45pm. My girlfriends didn't even get asked if they wanted dessert. Poor them. My Fresh Ricotta & Egg Raviolo with browned butter was delish. I can never pass up egg yolk. Mmm! Check out the lovely food eye candy: Courtesy of the chef Burrata with bacon, marinated escarole & caramelized shallots Goat Cheese Ravioli with five lilies Fresh Ricotta & Egg Raviolo with browned butter

I haven't met a french fry I don't like. (Okay, maybe Burger King is the exception.) Last weekend when we were in San Francisco, we walked to a yuppy OC-like neighborhood called Hayes Valley. This quaint area had furniture stores, clothing boutiques, bookstores, wine bars, and mom & pop restaurants. We found a french fries place called Frjtz. This modern Ikea decorated place was cute and comfy. I shared a large order of fries with jalapeno ketchup and ginger orange mayo. Delish! It was a perfect snack for a windy Sunday afternoon. H&M dress

I love getting H&M dresses, especially if they are at the store in San Francisco. I went to the Bay Area last weekend and got this dazzling aquamarine dress w/ a peacock design. This would look snazzy with a black cardigan and heels. Check it out:

Best from make up booths

Was reading my favorite section of the LA Times called Image. I found out that there was a Makeup Show last week in downtown LA. (Um, how come I wasn't invited?!) The writer scoped out the scene and highlighted some products from the makeup booths. I want to get my hands on the Kissable Couture's First Lady lip gloss. A shimmery pinkish-brown sounds like my style. More info: LA Times article: The best from the make up booths -,0,5137192.story

I have had the wonderful opportunity to stay at W Hotels. I think the first was in New Orleans, followed by New York, and Seattle. W Hotels are always so cute and cozy with modern conveniences like a flat screen TV, nice room views, and comfy beds. Right now, they're offering special rates at their San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Scottsdale, Silicon Valley, and Dallas location - starting at $159. Pretty cool, huh? Opening Ceremony

My hubby must read my blog because he kept talking about going to Opening Ceremony to check out the Uniqlo clothing. We finally went with my brother and cousin on a Sunday afternoon after hanging out with family. Opening Ceremony is located in what looks like an old office building on La Cienega near Beverly Center. Each room in this two story building houses a different designer. The layout of the place was so cool that I had to take pictures. This room was made of legos. Check out the little lego men tacked on the lego board. A big Hello Kitty play house displayed some Hello Kitty trinkets to purchase A lot of clothing, shoes, and handbags were unique and pricy, but the Men's Uniqlo Opening Ceremony collaboration had some cute stuff. I got a grey men's cardigan that I can wear to work, while the hubby got a light pink dress shirt. Uniqlo's rack More info: Opening Ceremony -

Pizzeria Ortica

I blogged about Pizzeria Ortica the other week and tried the place w/ my hubby shortly after that post. We ordered a few dishes on our Friday night date. First, we shared the Tricolore salad (Radicchio, arugula, endive, apples, Gorgonzola, candied walnuts). He had the Tortelli di pere e pecorino al burro e salvia (Pear and pecorino tortelli, brown butter, sage) while I had the Margherita pizza (Crushed San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, basil). The food was superb and welcome change from the OC restaurants we go to. It tasted very LA! Their Web site even mentions Saturday cooking classes. I might check that out! Oooh ahh. Eclectic Bar and Grille

I got a flyer last week that Eclectic Bar and Grille is offering specials for the month of March. They call it "The Frugal Fine Diner". You can get a drink, organic baby green salad or caesar salad with an entree for $10. Entrees include Al Forno Penne Pasta, California Penne Pasta, Arrabiata, Bolognese, Pizza Margherita, Smoked Turkey Sandwich, Honey Ham Sandwich, B.L.T, Soup & Salad, or Soup & 1/2 Sandwich. I've gotten lunch from this restaurant a couple times. Their Grilled Salmon Nicoise salad is light with a nice piece of grilled salmon on top. The Grilled Chicken and Pesto Chicken sandwiches are a favorite of mine. They stuff their sandwich with yummy fillings like alfalfa sprouts, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and basil mayonnaise. It's served with a little side organic salad. Yum! I definitely recommend the restaurant if you're ever in the North Hollywood area. More info: Eclectic Wine Bar and Grille -

BLD's brownie sundae

I still have until April 12 until Easter and I can stop giving up desserts for Lent. I think the lack of sugar has me daydreaming of desserts. Oh, how I miss chocolate chip cookies, lemon cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, frozen yogurt, chocolate malted crunch ice cream! I saw this post on LA Times Daily Dish blog about BLD's brownie sundae. How did I miss this on their menu when I ate here a few weeks ago. Look at that picture and see how delicious that looks! I love that there is fudge oozing out from every direction. The blog post even has a recipe for this beautiful concoction. Ooh ahh! More info: BLD's brownie sundae -

Gossip Girl on Bluefly

I think I'm going through Gossip Girl withdrawal. A new episode will be premiering next Monday March 16 and my Gossip Girl parties will resume again. Hooray! (Um, yes, I invite friends over to watch GG. XOXO) Back to my point, I was on Bluefly's site and spotted a Gossip Girl store. You basically click on a character you like and see clothing styles they'd wear. I couldn't decide who's style I like more - Serena, Blair or Jenny. Serena does have the nicest taste in coats. Check out this DKNY grey wool tweed belted coat . Blair always wears the cutest blouses, but not sure if I could wear them in this cold weather. This Robert Rodriguez jet printed chiffon ruffle tie blouse is a cutie. Jenny's style is cute and simple. I think I dress this way though I'd love to dress more girly or trendy. This A.B.S. black white zebra printed sateen dress is pretty. More info: Gossip Girl on Bluefly -

Giorgio Armani Face Fabric

On the weekends, I like to wear lighter makeup to go with my relaxed state of mind. I absolutely love Giorgio Armani's Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup SPF 12 (#4). It's more coverage than Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer (Almond) but still light enough to look natural. I highly recommend this foundation. More info: Giorgio Armani -

Alexander McQueen @ Target

I was on ShopDiary the other day and learned that the Alexander McQueen line is finally at Target. I haven't seen the line personally at my local Target but like the rock and roll look. This blue strapless dress is way cute. More info: Alexander McQueen @ Target -

Two restaurants to try

Was reading the LA Times and saw two restaurants worth trying in the near future. Craftbar - I'm a big fan of Tom Colicchio from Top Chef and have been to Craft, Craftsteak, and Craftwich. There will be a new Craftbar where they'll serve small dishes in their lounge. How cool is that! More info: Daily Dish - Craftbar - Pizzeria Ortica - David Myers from Comme Ca (where I had my birthday dinner!) opened a pizzeria in OC. OC seems to lack good restaurants so this restaurant will be a cool one to check out. The address looks like it's near outh Coast so even better. It's Lent for Catholics. I decided to give up desserts again, so pardon the lack of posts on sweets for the next 40 days. My brother decided to give up shopping. That one sounds tougher than desserts. Eeks! Happy dessert eating!

I love reading and decided to sell some books to Cash4Books. It's pretty easy. You enter the ISBN number and they give you a shipping label to mail it out. Then, they cut you a check. Not too shabby, eh? More info: Cash4Books -
