Robert's Russian Cuisine

My brother and his friends suggested eating Russian food on Friday night since we couldn't decide what to eat when we were in LA. I haven't had Russian food since my 1992 visit and all I remembered was a lot of cold meat and caviar. Time to refresh my memory! My brother drove down this lovely restaurant on La Brea. When we walked in, I noticed two tables with large groups having a good old time and the decor looking very Eastern European. I couldn't wait to sit down and order. Our waiter was an older gentleman who explained the menu and helped me decide. My brother got the seafood platter, his friend got the lamb plate while I ordered the chiken a la moscow. Imagine chicken with lemon and garlic. The entree came with soup, rice and potatoes. The potatoes were great - crunchy and soft. I tried the Russian borscht soup. My brother said it's what minestrone should be. Everything was very flavorful and filling. I definitely will try Russian food again after this experi

Wise Guys Pizzeria

My brother and I wanted pizza last week during the rainstorms and have been trying to boycott BJ's restaurant because of their bad service. (We always go back though. Pizookies are just too good!) I yelped a place nearby called Wise Guys Pizzeria. It had good reviews. Little did I know we'd be the only minorities in the place, but it didn't stop us and we felt welcome. We ordered their vegetarian pizza that had eggplant, carmelized onions, tomatoes, and other toppings I can't remember. Very tasty! The crust was like a breadstick and spongy. Yum! Usually, I don't like pizza crust. The bruschetta order was enough for a whole family. The tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and basil on top of the toasted french bread hit the spot. We definitely will return when we want some local pizza. More info: Wise Guys Pizzeria -

I was watching a lifestyle show last weekend and heard about a site called LuxGoddess. The Web site offers sale items on designer items. I can't wait to check it out. More info: LuxGoddess -

Make up pet peeves

I was putting on some blush and lip gloss in the car before my doc appointment this morning and thought about some pet peeves I have with make up. 1. Losing make up - I can't find my YSL Touche Eclat concealer pen to hide my dark eye circles, Mac lip pencil that my girlfriend gave me, and Almay purple eyeliner pen. Arrgh, don't you hate losing stuff? 2. Broken cases - I have a Laura Mercier eye concealer case where it doesn't close anymore because the hinge broke. How annoying! The same thing happened with my Nars Orgasm blush. I wish cosmetic companies made sturdy cases for make up. 3. Blush that cracks - I have this great Benefit 10 bronzer/blush. All of a sudden, the powder seemed to disintegrate and became this shattered mess. Luckily, there was still some blush powder left that I can use.

I can't live without my...

Infiniti scarf. My mom just crocheted this neat mojito color scarf. The brown, khaki, and green will totally go with my wardrobe and keep me and baby warm during the winter and rainy season. Look at my bear modeling it: I also own a black knit one I got from nordstroms brass plum dept and black/grey stripe acrylic one I got from my mom for Christmas. Happy rainy friday!

Jersey Shore fashionistas

I love Jersey Shore and I'm sure there are other fans out there too (cough*my hubby and brother*cough). Don't you find it interesting the fashion they were and how confident they are wearing it? It's awesome they embrace their lifestyle and are not ashamed. LA Times Image section did a neat story on their fashion endeavors. More info: The fashionistas of 'Jersey Shore' -,0,5473980.story

Jeepney Asian Grill

After my Saturday LA adventure with my mom, we were hungry and decided on going to Cerritors for some Filipino food. We discovered Jeepney Asian Grill and decided to try it out. The food and service was surprisingly good. We ordered pancit canton, garlic fried rice and sizzling beef steak. For dessert, I got the obligatory halo halo. Halo halo can never go wrong. Hot day or cold day. Good anytime. More info: Jeepney Asian Grill -

Santee Alley

My mom and I were in LA on Saturday to drop off hubby at the airport and my mom suggested we check out the Downtown Fashion District. I've always wanted to go to Santee Alley. I was able to buy a grey cardigan, purple sweater, and black bag that could double as a diaper bag. There were so many cool stores that carried shoes, purses, jewelry, evening gowns, wedding dresses, hats, to electronics. Lotsa eye candy, for sure! The store hours are Monday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. I suggest going on weekdays or Saturdays. More info: Fashion District -

I can't live without my...

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15. $22.50 for a lip balm is a little steep but definitely worth it. I love putting this on before gloss. My lips feel moisturized for hours. More info: Sephora Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15

Beso Las Vegas

The hubby and I enjoyed a nice New Years dinner at Eva Longoria's restaurant Beso at Crystals in the CityCentre. They call it a steakhouse with a Latin flair. Eva's famous guacamole was on pretty tasty. We split the ribeye steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and beans and rice. The vanilla creme brulee with fried plantains hit the spot. It was definitely a nice and tasty dinner. I really liked the the cozy and dim lighting too. No celeb spotting that night, except for a Dodgers' Manny Rodriguez lookalike. Here are a few pix:

Jean Phillipe Patisserie

I stayed four days and three nights at the new Aria Las Vegas Resort during the New Year's Eve holiday. My favorite spot in the hotel has to be Jean Phillipe Patisserie. The bakery and cafe included such heavenly delights like crepes, chocolates, lemon tarts, fruit tarts, fruit parfait, blueberry muffins, and croissants. The display around the cafe was tres chic. The lines are long but desserts make it worth the wait. Check out this eye candy and drool with me.

Vie De France Citron Cooler

My favorite drink of all time has to be Vie De France's Citron Cooler. It's a splash of orange juice, sprite, and grenadine topped with lime and orange wedges and a strawberry. Mmmm! It's the perfect drink when strolling through South Coast Plaza or chowing down fettucine alfredo.

Saffron Grill

Today, I had lunch with my mom at Saffron Grill in Orange. She has been here with friends and said the food is great. I agree! Our $36 lunch was filled with lots of yummy food from abalo pollo, boneless chicken kabob, and eggplant with mint and walnut. I definitely will be back for their generous portions. Bugaboo Frog

The hubby is excited about baby as much as I am. He wants to be in charge of the stroller, car seat, and crib. He found this really cute one called the Bugaboo Frog. I love how modern it looks. It looks like a good stroller candidate. Yay! I can't wait to push the lil' stroller around the park. More info: Bugaboo Frog

Heidi Klum maternity line

Sorry for the blog hiatus. Holidays and being pregnant has kept me busy... I cannot wait for Heidi's maternity line at Motherhood Maternity. I've been living in dresses, leggings, maternity pants, long tees and sweaters. It would be neat to see something stylish and affordable at a maternity store.
