Giorgio Armani Cosmetics

Oh, how I love Giorgio Armani Cosmetics. I went to Nordstroms today to get some new make up. The Face Fabric Radiance is a nice light foundation that's reflective and not as matte as my regular Face Fabric. The helpful make up artist, Carley, suggested the Master Corrector in peach since I complained about dark circles I have. The combination she put on me definitely brightened my face. I highly recommend Giorgio Armani for your foundation needs. More info: Face Fabric Radiance - Master Corrector -

Stella & Dot

A co-worker told me about Stella & Dot, an up and coming on-trend and very affordable jewelry line. She said, "The jewelry has been seen in Lucky Magazine, In Style and on celebrities like Paris Hilton to namedrop a few." I checked out the site and they have some really cute pieces. Pupuseria San Sivar

I got today's Yelp newsletter today that named food around the world. One restaurant stood out: Pupuseria San Sivar in Costa Mesa for Salvadorean food. I'm always up for trying new food, especially if I don't have to drive far. I'll definitely do another post once I try this place. More info: Yelp link -

Cafe Rio

I love 17th Street in Costa Mesa. There is always an abundance of little cafes and restaurants to try. I tried Cafe Rio Mexican Grill last week after a super long doctor's appointment. Baby and I were starving for some meat. This new restaurant was cute and busy. I fell in line and decided on two tacos - sweet pork barbacoa and chile roasted beef. It took a little while to get my food, but it was because they melted some cheese and made a hard taco shell. Mmm! The plate came with rice, beans, and salsa. Guacamole was extra, which I can never understand why. Overall, the tacos were delish and filling. I could only finish one and half tacos plus the rice, beans, guac and salsa. I'll definitely be coming back if I want good Mexican. More info: Cafe Rio -

Union Jack

I have been going to Union Jack in Fountain Valley for years. They have to have the best fish and chips ever. It's way better than ones I've tried at H Salt or Applebee's. The fish is fresh and always give you lots of malt vinegar for the chips. I was happy to find a location in Costa Mesa after finishing a doc appointment in Newport last week. I pigged out and got the combo 2 which includes 2 fish, 2 shrimp and chips. Yum! The $10 was worth it. Here's a pic before hubby and I gobbled it all up: More info: Yelp links: FV - Costa Mesa -

California Poppy Festival - 04/24 to 04/25

I've had two friends tell me about the Poppy Festival in Lancaster. Just saw a mention in the LA Times too. Ooh la la! More info: California Poppy Festival -

31 Cent Scoop Night

Save the date! April 28 from 5pm to 10pm. Go to your local Baskin Robbin's to get a scoop for $0.31. Mmm! Wish I could go. Maybe they have a sugar free flavor I'll like :)

I can't live without my....

Benefit Fresh Squeezed lip gloss. This pinky grapefruit color is great when I'm wearing plum blush and definitely gives me a springy color. I love that the gloss isn't sticky either. More info: Benefit lip gloss -

BOGO at Jamba Juice

A friend passed along this coupon. Too bad I can't have smoothies the rest of the pregnancy. More info: BOGO coupon (expires 04/25) -

Open Sesame

I have been meaning to try Open Sesame in Long Beach, after hearing good recommendations from Cal State Long Beach professors and Yelp. Hubby wanted to eat here yesterday after hearing from a friend it's better than Jerusalem's . Whaa?! The restaurant is on 2nd Street in Belmont Shores and the same block as Frosted . The patio was packed, so we sat inside their cozy restaurant. For appetizers, we got hummus and grape leaves. Then, we shared the beef shawarma with tabouleh and more hummus. Everything we tried was tasty and flavorful. I made myself a pita sandwich with the limey tabouleh salad, hummus with olive oil, and tender beef. We were glad we tried Open Sesame out and definitely have to take my brother who's a fan of this type of food. More info: Open Sesame -

Singapore's Banana Leaf

Last Wednesday, hubby, bro and his friend picked me up in Koreatown so we can grab dinner and go shopping at Farmer's Market/The Grove. I did some research beforehand and said knew I wanted to eat at Pampas (brazillian) or Singapore's Banana Leaf. Singapore's Banana Leaf won. I can't pass up Singapore, Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine. I ordered the rotti prati (Asian version of Indian naan bread), chicken satay, and rojak (salad with tofu, jicama, cucumber in a spicy dressing). When I brought out all the food, my hubby and bro laughed for me. Three dishes for me and baby to eat. I ate most of it and had some great leftovers for lunch the next day. Mmmm! The guys at the counter were really nice too and helped me decide what to order. Good service! More info: Singapore Banana Leaf -

Diaper bags

Hubby has been nesting with me. He just ordered a cool diaper bag from DadGear. The messenger bag is super functional with accessible diaper wipes, baby bottle, and water bottle from the outside. It has compartments for diapers and toys in the inside. Pretty cool! Another cool one he showed me is from Skip Hop. The Via Messenger clicks easily to strollers. It looks pretty too. Manhattan Beach cupcakeries

After the prenatal massage in Manhattan Beach, I scoped out two cupcakeries before walking on the pier. Becker's Bakery was super popular and had a line out the door. I decided on a mini vanilla cupcake with lemon buttercream icing for $1.50. Yum! I inhaled it immediately. Next up was Cupcake Couture of Manhattan Beach. This cupcakery was a participant at Cupcake Challenge 2010. They had a nice Easter special of buying 3 getting one free. I ordered the Luscious Lemon and Little Miss Shortcake. Both cupcakes were decadent. The lemon one had lemon meringue frosting and lemon filling, while the shortcake had strawberry jam with strawberry frosting and macaroon on top. I got my friend the Lady in Red and Spiced Apple Orchard. The lady in red was a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting and spiced apple one was a spice cake with oatmeal and caramel topping. Le Pain Quotidien

I was in Manhattan Beach last Saturday for a prenatal massage and had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien. This cute bakery cafe had a delicious looking organic menu. I ordered the rustic tuna tartine (imagine tuna salad on whole wheat bread) and side salad with basil pesto dressing. Baby liked the healthy lunch. If I'm ever in Manhattan Beach again, I'll definitely take the hubby next time. More info: Le Pain Quotidien -

I was on Target's site tonight browsing and spied these cute trendy sandals for an affordable price. I think the suede flat sandals I liked at Nordstrom's were $80. These beauties only cost $23 smackaroos. Whoo hoo! I can't wait to go on my next Target outing to check it out. More info: Mossimo Penny Suede Flat Sandals -

Avanti Cafe

I was in Newport this morning for a follow up allergist appointment. I was hungry and decided to try something new. I was thinking Plum Cafe but didn't see anything on the menu that appealed to me, so decided on Avanti Cafe. This place has been voted #1 vegetarian friendly so I had to try it. The guy behind the counter was very helpful when I asked what he recommended. I tried the bakin' BBQ which has avocado, tempeh, lettus, tomoato on toasted grain bread. Instead of tater frieds (gotta watch my carbs!), I asked for side salad. The mixed green salad was delish w/ pears and citrus dressing. I definitely will check this place out again and bring someone next time I'm in Costa Mesa. More info: Avanti Cafe -
