On Sunday, my mom and I grabbed take out at King's Hawaiian in Torrance. We got chicken katsu curry, beef stew, and mahi mahi. Of course, I couldn't pass up the bakery. I decided to get a slice of paradise cake and muffins for breakfast. Lemon, pineapple bran, pineapple and blueberry were my choices for the family. I got an apple Danish for myself. Yesterday, my mom and I went to a LA fashion event called Pamper Me Fabulous. The venue was in an old church made famous by The Hills. Inside this event were tons of women mingling different beauty and clothing booths. We even heard a speaker from Food Network. Outside there were raffles for iPads and spa gift bags. My mom and I enjoyed make up application from the Youngblood mineral beauty line and hairstyles from Marinello students. We even got cupcake and cheesecake samples from local bakeries. On Monday, my mom, baby and I hit up downtown HB to check out the pier and relax. I really wanted to go to the strand to get cupcakes, so got a salted caramel, hazelnut, and red velvet. The verdict. Red velvet tasted like how a red velvet should taste. Cream cheese frosting and hint of chocolate cake. Salted caramel was awesome. My girlfriend came into town the other weekend and asked if I knew where to get a blowout. I had no idea. Fast forward to now. Drybar has opened up in Newport Beach's fashion island. Cal State Fullerton students sent an invite to me for their Pilipino Culture Night on Saturday, April 9, 2011. This year's PCN features "the Filipino woman. “Lola’s Kitchen” (Grandma’s Kitchen) is a generation-to-generation story that centers on the two characteristics that every Filipino or Filipino-American can identify themselves with: food and family. In the middle of it all is Gabriela Galang – de la Cruz, the protagonist of the play. While still in the Philippines in the 1950s, she inherits a secret recipe that has only been passed down to the women of her family from her very own mother Gloria. Once in America, Gabriela and her husband Eddie introduce Filipino cuisine to their community by opening up their own restaurant called Aming Kocina (Our Kitchen), and by doing so, share the Filipino culture to those unfamiliar with it. Life is not always so simple, though, especially for Gabriela who must find the courage in her to support her family. The play also shifts

There are two new cupcake places I want to try. First is Casey's Cupcakes in Laguna Beach. This place recently won Cupccake Wars and the owner was formerly on MTV's Laguna Beach. Second is Lil Reds Cupcakery at The Strand in Huntington Beach. I couldn't find a website and they have two Yelp reviews so far.
