June Birchbox





This June Birchbox is dedicated to the "inner jetsetter". Here's what I got:

beautyblender blendercleanser - This soy-based formula gave my makeup brushes an overdue cleaning.

Comodynes self tanning intensive - I'm tan already and breastfeeding. I plan on having my brother or hubby be my guinea pig so I can test this out.

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect - The leave in treatment smells yummy and made my strands super soft. A+!

theBalm cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen - The packaging screams lip gloss but it's a lip and cheek stain. It gave my lips a just bitten look and cheeks a little glow.

tili Bags - It's meant to use through airport security but I like it for my diaper bag to hold my stuff.

John Varvatos Star USA - Hubby doesn't wear cologne usually so I gave the sample to my brother.

Fire Safety Tips

It’s been about a month since my family and I survived a house fire. It's been a roller coaster of ups and downs. I feel optimistic and very thankful to survive and recover from my injuries. We have been blessed by family, friends, colleagues, and the community for the generosity and support we have received. Our firefighters told me most fires occur in the kitchen or bedroom, either started by electrical or candle. Racist Episodes

Upon reflecting on racism in my life, a few key episodes stick out in my mind. Denmark - My first encounter with racists was in high school when I stayed with a home stay family. They made me feel unwelcome for being an Asian American and kept saying they wish they got an American student, but in my mind I was an American study. They kept inquiring where was I from & I said I’m from California. I complained to the group chaperone and was quickly switched to a more welcoming home stay family and able to have a better experience. Denver - I was on a date with my boyfriend/now husband waiting for our table at a restaurant. I noticed subtle racist Behavior when a white couple who came in after us was seated first. I brought it up to my boyfriend and he says don’t worry about it and we’ll get seated first. This restaurant is first come, first serve.
