Style Week OC: FIDM Cadillac Couture Competition
Last Saturday, my BFF and Serene Sky partner headed out to Irvine Spectrum to attend the first night of Style Week OC. The main event was the FIDM Cadillac Couture Competition. Four FIDM students were charged with creating a couture dress inspired by a Cadillac.
I loved how each FIDM designer interpreted the vehicle in different ways. A purple dress had a cage like tail on the side and exquisite choker using the logo. Her handheld clutch used the logo too.
One black and silver dress reminded me of Gladiator. It looked tough and strong.
My favorite and the winning design was a black and white dress. I loved how the dress had such sharp lines yet was feminine at the same time. A metal headpiece was also designed and gave the dress a tough edge too.
The fan favorite from Facebook was a red dress that used seat belts to adorn the chest and belt area. This was my best friend's favorite of the four dresses.
Congrats to all the FIDM students! You did great. I can't wait to see you succeed and see your designs in the future.
