Profile: Monica Pommier Grubin from Pure Barre OC

 

How did you get started with Pure Barre OC?
I would love to tell you I feel in love with Pure Barre the first time I tried it….but it took about 5 classes to realize the potential of this workout. I hated it my first class. I was mad and frustrated why a Division 1 water polo player who played 4 sports growing up couldn’t make it through class. I am not very good a failing at anything.  It took me 5 classes to realize failure is what you wanted in Pure Barre. The shaking and having to stop and my muscles burning is what was taking my bulky muscles and organically leaning them. So often in hot yoga I would pull a muscle thinking I was more flexible than I really was because I was in this artificial environment. With Pure Barre in a month I was able to touch my toes (never before done) and soon enough could do the splits. My mom takes class with me to this day and she is still shocked that I can do the splits. Pure Barre has taken my strong but bulky muscles and lengthen me into a leaner more flexible person with better posture. I never thought results like this were possible.  I am addicted to the body Pure Barre gives me. Its not easy, and you feel the difference if you miss a week but there is nothing better than the way you feel after pushing yourself in a Pure Barre class. 

How would you describe a Pure Barre OC class? 
 Our workout classes are unlike any other. We can take any age, shape and size and transform their bodies. The workout is definitely why people come into our studio. In addition we offer free skills classes once a month for clients to work on their technique with an instructor. We also carry fun clothing lines such as Lululemon, Splits 59, Beyond Yoga to name a few.
Pure Barre is a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs and burns fat in record-breaking time. Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements set to fantastic music, Pure Barre is the fastest, most effective, yet safest way to change your body. Students see results in just 10 classes.

Pure Barre is intelligent exercise. The technique protects your joints as it does not involve any bouncing or jumping. Each strength section of the workout is followed by a stretching section in order to create long, lean muscle without bulk. The workout launches a full blown attack on the areas of the body all women struggle with: abs, hips, seat and arms. It defies gravity by tapering everything in and lifting it up.
The workout requires such focus that you block "life" out for the hour allowing you to obtain the mental benefits achieved in yoga or meditation. A transformed body and a clear head in just one hour- it doesn't get much better than this.

Moving every day creates balance within yourself. I motivate myself and others through seeing what people are capable of accomplishing. For me I work predominantly with women and to see these women change before my eyes is so satisfying. There is nothing better than seeing someone try their first Pure Barre class and realize its potential! Women are such powerful creatures to watch someone realize this through gaining self-worth can motivate anyone. Its addicting. My clients motivate me through their success stories and inspire me to work harder myself. In addition my staff motivates me as well. These girls that help me run Pure Bare are so inspiring, they pour their soul into ever class they teach and that is what motivates me to be better at what I do each day. 

Any future plans for Pure Barre OC?
 I just took over 2 more locations making Pure Barre the first boutique studio that you can use your package at multiple locations in OC. This just happened in Oct so that is the newest thing coming to the OC. Plan on seeing all your favorite instructors at all locations, helping you reach your 2015 fitness goals.
