Fig & Olive Sunday Brunch

It has been on my bucket list to try Fig & Olive Newport Beach's Sunday brunch. I've heard so many good things about this restaurant at Fashion Island, so I was definitely excited I was invited by Kimberly from According to Kimberly to try this restaurant with my OC bloggers.

I loved the Mediterranean Brunch Spread especially the famous crostinis, quiches, omelette station, croissants,  fresh salads, and carmelized apple tarts. I loved that all the dishes were full of flavor. The brunch cocktails choices are blood orange mimosas, bellinis, and bloody mary beverages to compliment the meal.

Fire Safety Tips

It’s been about a month since my family and I survived a house fire. It's been a roller coaster of ups and downs. I feel optimistic and very thankful to survive and recover from my injuries. We have been blessed by family, friends, colleagues, and the community for the generosity and support we have received. Our firefighters told me most fires occur in the kitchen or bedroom, either started by electrical or candle. Racist Episodes

Upon reflecting on racism in my life, a few key episodes stick out in my mind. Denmark - My first encounter with racists was in high school when I stayed with a home stay family. They made me feel unwelcome for being an Asian American and kept saying they wish they got an American student, but in my mind I was an American study. They kept inquiring where was I from & I said I’m from California. I complained to the group chaperone and was quickly switched to a more welcoming home stay family and able to have a better experience. Denver - I was on a date with my boyfriend/now husband waiting for our table at a restaurant. I noticed subtle racist Behavior when a white couple who came in after us was seated first. I brought it up to my boyfriend and he says don’t worry about it and we’ll get seated first. This restaurant is first come, first serve.
