FINS Poke Fusion

I  have been a fan of poke ever since I visited Maui years ago. I love that poke bowls are so mainstream now. Last month, I discovered FINS Poke Fusion,. They offer fully customizable poke bowls and fresh fish tacos using the highest quality fish and finest ingredients. Their second location in Fullerton not only allows guest to create their own poke bowls and fish tacos but is the first poke restaurant to offer drive thru. Talk about game changer! If only I was still a student at Cal State Fullerton student when FINS opened. What I love is that the ingredients taste so fresh and savory from their sauces, taco shells, tostada bowls to chips. Be sure to get the Kialuea sause and sesame crusted cream cheese topping! More info: FINS Poke Fusion 513 N. Newport Fun Tours

Happy Labor Day! I'm reminded of my Newport Fun Tour 90 minute boat ride around Newport Back Bay and Balboa Island a few Sundays ago. It was a fun family experience that I definitely recommend. Being at sea to  enjoy the ocean air & watch the sailboats and paddle boarders was just the best. It's crazy to think that Newport is so close yet felt like a world away. Thankfully my Yelp research led me to Aji Peruvian Cuisine since I was craving meat. This LBC restaurant had a good vibe in the air and was filled with guests at dinner time. We ordered drinks right away before we ordered. If you like beer and wine, you won't be disappointed in their selection. I got a sangria to go along with the housemade chips. I decided on the Lomita saltado. I loved the tender beef tenderloins . It was a flavorful meal complimented with fries and rice. Yes please! My cousins got the seco de res. I had a bite of the short ribs and liked the savory salsa that was topped on it. I'll definitely have to get that entree next time. For dessert, we couldn't decide so got  picarones which are yam dougnuts glazed in a guava type sauce. Definitely a unique spin on a doughnut. The flourless chocolate cake was great to
