Harvest Voxbox

Recently, I received the Harvest Voxbox full of home and beauty items. 

Gain Botanicals Laundry Detergent - This plant based detergent is new at Target. It comes in white tea & lavender and orange blossom vanilla. I love the white tea & lavender scent. 

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer - I usually shower at night and always wake up with bed head. I love that this hair primer detangles my hair, reduces frizz and adds shine. The argan oil and sunflower seed oil also gives a nice fresh scent too. 

Vera Wang Embrace - Vera Wang's new scent is floral and feels very feminine. It's a perfect scent to feel fresh. 

Tree Hut Coconut Lime Shea Body Butter - I have dry combination skin. I love body butters and Tree Hut's version hydrated my skin all day. The coconut and lime scent gives it a nice tropical feel too.

Fire Safety Tips

It’s been about a month since my family and I survived a house fire. It's been a roller coaster of ups and downs. I feel optimistic and very thankful to survive and recover from my injuries. We have been blessed by family, friends, colleagues, and the community for the generosity and support we have received. Our firefighters told me most fires occur in the kitchen or bedroom, either started by electrical or candle. Racist Episodes

Upon reflecting on racism in my life, a few key episodes stick out in my mind. Denmark - My first encounter with racists was in high school when I stayed with a home stay family. They made me feel unwelcome for being an Asian American and kept saying they wish they got an American student, but in my mind I was an American study. They kept inquiring where was I from & I said I’m from California. I complained to the group chaperone and was quickly switched to a more welcoming home stay family and able to have a better experience. Denver - I was on a date with my boyfriend/now husband waiting for our table at a restaurant. I noticed subtle racist Behavior when a white couple who came in after us was seated first. I brought it up to my boyfriend and he says don’t worry about it and we’ll get seated first. This restaurant is first come, first serve.
